3D printing/TechLab Pre-Launch Party
There will be an open house with pizza event this Friday for the new 3D printing/"TechLab" space in the Sherman Fairchild Library. The library partnered with student leaders to submit a successful funding proposal to the Moore-Hufstedler Fund to support this initiative. The lab will be located on the first floor of SFL, in a room directly off the lobby.
If you have the opportunity, please drop by the SFL this Friday April 17 between 12-1 to see the space and learn more about the TechLab. The open house is for everybody so please spread the word. A consultant who has designed and run this type of space in a research library will be on site Friday and available to answer questions. The space is still in the design phase, but we will have a 3D printer and some of the other equipment planned for the space on hand, as well as examples of 3D printed objects. We do not yet have an official opening date, but are hopeful it will be able to open before the end of this academic year, at least in a "soft launch" phase.
This is an exciting initiative for the library and we think for the Caltech community as well.
