We are pleased to announce the next AI4Science workshop on February 9th, 2023, on "AI for accelerating and enhancing scientific simulations." We invite the Caltech community, prospective graduate students and the wider local community to join us. Lectures will be hybrid with a combination of in-person and zoom options.
AI has the potential to revolutionize scientific domains by significantly improving the speed of scientific simulations as well as by removing modeling errors. This workshop covers both the theoretical foundations of such data-driven approaches as well as application-gains being realized by AI methods. We will start with a morning session on AI frameworks such as Gaussian processes, data assimilation and neural operators will be covered. The afternoon session will feature a wide range of application domains such as fluid dynamics, material plasticity, climate modeling, seismology, and chemical reactions. In addition, we invite the participants to interact with student poster presentations during the lunch break.

Invited Speakers

Anima Anandkumar, Caltech
Kaushik Bhattacharya, Caltech
Tim Colonius, Caltech
Assad Oberai, USC
Houman Owhadi, Caltech
Zachary Ross, Caltech
Tapio Schneider, Caltech
Andrew Stuart, Caltech
Erik Winfree, Caltech

Registration

Please register to attend the Workshop. The deadline to register is Friday, February 3, 2023.
A Zoom livestream will be offered for registered participants.

Poster Session and Application

A Poster Session will take place during the Workshop lunch break. We welcome posters from the Caltech community on AI algorithms and/or their applications to scientific domains.

To apply to present a poster at the Poster Session, please complete the online poster application form. The deadline to apply to present a poster is Thursday, February 2, 2023. Registration for the Workshop is required to apply to present a poster.

COVID Guidelines

  • Caltech requires COVID vaccination for all employees and visitors, and by entering the Caltech campus, you attest to being fully vaccinated or having a medical exemption.  More details can be found at https://together.caltech.edu/resources/events.
  • Masks are currently optional indoors on the Caltech campus, and are preferred for this event.  We will have a supply of KN95 masks at the Check-In Table for attendees who request them.
