Alpine Club Talks: Summits on the Air: Hiking and Ham Radio by David Hodge and Keith Schwab
Are you looking for backup communications while out in the wild? How about having fun with that equipment while learning to use it effectively? We have a solution for you.
Summits on the Air or SOTA promotes operating radio on mountain peaks. A radio amateur in Scotland, John Linford created the program in 2002. Today there are associations throughout the world and many thousands of participants. Amateur radio also plays an important role in emergency communications outside the typical modern infrastructure.
