The Caltech Alternative PhD Careers Club is pleased to announce a Q&A session with Caltech alumna Ayeh Bandeh-Ahmadi (2002, Physics & Economics)--a member of the research staff at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA), which is a non-profit federally-funded think tank near Washington, DC. At IDA, she has developed economic models for managing the military labor force and estimating risks in the financial sector in addition to advising on competition in science and technology policy.

Her past work has been featured in the Harvard Business Review, Businessweek, and Telegraph, and her work has resulted in briefings to executives at a number of Fortune 500 multinationals, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, the Prime Minister of the U.K., the White House, Congress, and many other domestic governmental organizations (ex: NSF, DHS, the Fed, NIH). In addition to her work at IDA, she is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of Maryland as well as an active member on the Board of Directors of the Caltech Alumni Association, which brings her back to Caltech five times per year.

If you're interested in a career working for a think tank, we hope to see you there!
