The Caltech Alternative PhD Careers Club is happy to announce a talk and Q&A session focused on careers in science policy work with Caltech PhD alumus Brian Jackson. Since obtaining his PhD in Chemistry from Caltech in 1999, Brian went on to obtain a Masters in Science, Technology, & Public Policy from the Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington D.C.. In 2000, Brian joined RAND corporation where he has carried out and managed research on a plethora of topics colored by science policy, including: terrorism, homeland security, threat analysis, and emergency preparedness.
From 2006 to 2009, Brian served as Associate Director of RAND s Homeland Security research program, and later that program was combined with research activities in RAND s National Security Research Division. Additionally, Brian is an adjunct professor at Georgetown's Center for Peace and Security Studies. If your goal is to work in the field of science policy or you an interested in this fascinating area, Dr. Jackson's talk is one you should not miss!
