An Introduction to Allyship: Supporting Undocumented Students
This session is for Caltech community members and will include an overview of (1) foundational definitions, (2) legislation affecting undocumented students, and (3) a brief discussion about practical ways to support this constituency. Participants will receive resources to continue learning about the experiences of undocumented students.
This session is part of Dreamers in STEM - a workshop focusing on students facing immigration challenges while also pursuing graduate degrees or further STEM education and careers. Current undergraduate and community college students with DACA/TPS or undocumented status, from Los Angeles area schools, will participate in a half-day conference featuring a keynote speaker, lab tours, panel discussion, and a networking mixer and reception. President Rosenbaum will also present short remarks during the program.
Faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars, alumni, and students are encouraged to RSVP and attend.
