Presented By: | Caltech Committee on Institute Programs |
PLEASE NOTE: This is a free event; tickets are not required. Preferred admission tickets will be available from Vroman's Bookstore and to certain members of the Caltech community.
Caltech, in collaboration with Vroman's Bookstore, presents Andy Williams for a talk about his memoir, Moon River & Me.
In Moon River & Me, Williams shares with readers his beginnings as a young man from Wall Lake, Iowa, his performing with his brothers as The Williams Brothers, and his solo career, in which he charted eighteen gold and three platinum albums, headlined at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for more than twenty years and hosted an enormously popular weekly TV variety show.
Within he shares all of the highs and lows of his career and on this night he will be talking about his book and, with piano accompaniment, will be performing a selection of songs that have helped make him one of the most popular and beloved entertainers of the 20th century.
Andy Williams has been entertaining audiences for nearly 70 years. He has recorded 18 gold and three platinum certified albums. When Ronald Reagan was president, he declared Andy's voice to be "a national treasure." Williams had his own popular TV variety show from 1962 to 1971. He also owns his own theater, the Moon River Theatre in Branson, Missouri, where he continues to regularly perform.
