Beginner Lindy Hop Dance Class
Winnett Lounge
Lindy Hop is a partner dance that originated in 1920's and 30's Harlem, New York, and consists of both eight- and six-count steps, including footwork borrowed from the Charleston and tap. It was considered a cultural phenomenon that broke through the race barrier when segregation was still the norm, born from the blending of African rhythms and movements with European-structured dance.
Our eight-week class, starting April 12, is taught by renowned professional instructor, top-ranked competitor, and cofounder of Lindy Groove Doug Silton.
No special attire, previous experience, or partner is needed.
$5 ($35 per series) for students and Caltech affiliates; $10 ($75 per series) for everyone else.
