Blues dancing has origins reaching back to the 1920s, but has existed in its current form only very recently. Blues is a relatively free-form and relaxed dance style that centers around tension and connection within the partnership. It focuses on developing a deep and relaxed connection with one's partner and matching the pulses and rhythms of both classic and modern Blues music.

Prerequisites: No special attire or partner needed! No previous Blues experience required, but previous experience with another dance like West Coast Swing or Lindy Hop is encouraged.

== About the instructors ==

Jesse and Jenny have been teaching Lindy Hop and Blues for 4 years. Jenny has a background in ballet and Jesse in ballroom; Nightclub, West Coast, and Lindy Hop can be seen in all their dances. Both have traveled extensively to attend exchanges and workshops in Blues and other dances. They developed their unique style in Northern California, in San Francisco, at Cid's house, and in a dirty warehouse in Sacramento. Groovy and slow with isolations and a strong micro influence, they excel in the closed position.

Jesse and Jenny taught dance at Chico State for 2 years before they moved to Los Angeles, and have been guest instructors at Friday Night Blues in San Francisco, and The Juke in Santa Monica, as well as teaching regularly at Pasadena's Do Something Blue.
