Title: From embryonic development to therapeutic mRNAs: Combining genomics and expansion microscopy to understand the basic mechanisms of transcription and translation.
Abstract:
The Giraldez laboratory is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate gene expression during embryonic development after fertilization. To achieve this we combine Genomics and imaging approaches together with massive parallel reporter assays to decipher the regulatory code at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. In particular during this visit, we will describe our efforts in using expansion microscopy to visualize the process of transcriptional activation and in the second part we will discuss our genomic efforts combining massive parallel reporter assays to decipher the post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms of mRNA decay and translational regulation and how we use this knowledge towards developing more potent therapeutic mRNAs.
