Caltech Associates Reception and Program: Illuminating the Brain—From Caltech Student to Breakthrough Neuroscientist
5:45 p.m. Reception
6:30 p.m. Dinner and program
Join us to learn how Viviana Gradinaru (BS '05), professor of neuroscience and biological engineering and director of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience, discovered her passion for this complex organ as a Caltech Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship student and became an internationally recognized neuroscientist.
As a Caltech student involved in the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) program, Viviana Gradinaru discovered her passion for the human brain, a complex organ with billions of unique neurons that are connected in more than 100 trillion ways. Join us to learn how now, as a professor of neuroscience and biological engineering at her alma mater, Gradinaru is mapping the circuitry of the brain to unlock solutions for treating diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and other neurological disorders.
In addition, meet and interact with the next generation of Caltech students as they share their own undergraduate experiences and future aspirations, which they gained during their SURFs.
