Caltech Connect suicide prevention training for students
Have you been worried about a friend or colleague who appears unwell or in distress, but aren't sure how to intervene? Do you feel uncomfortable engaging in a conversation about their wellbeing, or don't know how to refer to appropriate resources?
Caltech Connect training is a 2-hour interactive program offered by Student Wellness Services. This training enables you to identify signs of distress, offers concrete strategies for intervention, and provides information about resources and referral options. While Caltech Connect has a particular focus on suicide prevention, the skills you will learn are applicable to a range of situations that you may encounter with your peers.
We recognize that sensitive conversations can be difficult, so the training is focused on helping you feel better equipped to manage these situations. We will offer Caltech Connect training to the community on a regular basis. All students are welcome; please join us in Downs-Lauritsen 269 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. No RSVP is necessary; just show up. This training is being offered to the Peer Advocates and Health Advocates in training that evening, and we're opening the training to all interested students as well.
