Caltech Jazz Bands

The Caltech Jazz Bands, directed by Barb Catlin, will present their Annual Guest Artist Concert featuring trumpeter Wayne Bergeron and trombonist Andy Martin on February 1st at 8PM in Caltech's Beckman Auditorium.
Admission fees are $5 for students and seniors, and $10 for general admission. Parking is free near the auditorium. Early arrival is recommended, as we expect a full house. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Grammy nominated trumpeter, Wayne Bergeron, is considered among the very best in the world. His playing can be heard on over 400 film/television scores and hundreds of recording projects, from Beyonce and Michael Buble, to Green Day and Joe Cocker. Bergeron first gained notoriety playing lead trumpet on Maynard Ferguson's band, and he continues to define lead trumpet playing in current big bands such as Arturo Sandoval's L.A. Big Band and Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band.
Jazz trombonist extraordinaire, Andy Martin, is one of the most respected jazz musicians of our day. His versatility seats him in ensembles as diverse as the hit T.V. show, Dancing with the Stars, to principal trombone for Hollywood's Pantages Theatre. His work with the big bands of Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, Bill Holman, and Tom Kubis' big bands is considered "must study" material for any serious student of the trombone. The CD, Andy Martin and the Metropole Orchestra, earned international acclaim.
Bergeron and Martin are both Yamaha Performing Artists and enjoy their work as clinicians and guest artists both nationally and internationally. The Caltech music department is excited to bring these well-respected and entertaining musicians to our program.
