Crossing Over Special Viewing with Artist Jane Brucker
Crossing Over: Art and Science at Caltech, 1920–2020 is an expansive public exhibition that weaves together the history of science with historical and contemporary art.
For the exhibition, artist Jane Brucker created six softly lit installations that sit within Gates Annex Library's bookshelves. Above the library's entrance doors, Brucker's Time Poem plays her poetry via an LED screen reminiscent of a small clock tower. Her installation creates a dialogue with Caltech's collection of rare, illustrated books in physics and astronomy, including first edition works by Copernicus, Galileo, and Kepler, augmented by photographs, pulp science fiction books, and the works of other contemporary artists.
At this time, Brucker herself will be present to discuss her installation.
