Allen Gross, Director
The Caltech-Occidental Symphony, conducted by Allen Robert Gross, presents its fall concert. Featured will be pianist Steven Vanhauwaert playing Berlioz's Overture to Benvenuto Cellini, Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor, and Strauss' Death and Transfiguration.
Hailed by the Los Angeles Times for his "impressive clarity, sense of structure, and monster technique," Steven Vanhauwaert has garnered a wide array of accolades, including the Maurice Lefranc award, the Rotary Prize, the Galiot Prize, and the USC Concerto Competition. In October 2004 he won the Grand Prize at the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, which enabled him to tour throughout the U.S. and Hungary.
This concert will be held at Occidental College in Thorne Hall. The same program will be presented in Caltech's Ramo Auditorium on Sunday, December 2nd at 3:30 p.m.
Admission to the concerts is free, with no tickets or reservations required.
