The concert features David Asher Brown as guest conductor and pianist Jonathan Liu.
Music will include David Asher Brown's "Voyager," Ravel's "Piano Concerto in G Major," and Dvořák's "Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 ('From the New World')".
"Voyager," composed in 2014, is a musical tone poem that conveys the cultural and scientific implications of the Voyager spacecraft that carries with it a golden disk embedded with cultural artifacts from planet Earth, including the music of Bach.
Jonathan Liu is this year's winner of the Caltech-Occidental Student Concerto Competition. Jonathan is a senior undergraduate at Caltech majoring in Applied Physics.
The concert is free, with no tickets or reservations required, but early arrival is recommended.
