Caltech Rally for Reproductive Justice
- Public Event
The Caltech Graduate Student Council and the Socialists of Caltech are hosting a student-led Rally for Reproductive Justice on October 6th, 2022 from 12-2 PM at the Beckman Mall. Please RSVP here.
This event is part of the October 6th nationwide Day of Student Action for Reproductive Justice, with more than 50 participating schools in over 25 states. Students and allies are standing in solidarity across the country to demand protection of their rights to safe, legal, accessible abortion; gender-affirming care; free contraception of all varieties; and mandatory, comprehensive sex education.
At the Caltech rally, student and guest speakers will talk about California state laws relevant to abortion and gender-affirming care; about why the ability of scientists to decide if and when to become parents is so essential for gender equity in STEM and academia; and about how barriers to access impact Black and Indigenous people of color, international students, people from low-income backgrounds, disabled folks, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Tabling clubs will also provide free resources such as Plan B pills and stations where you can register to vote or write postcards to voters in swing states.
RSVP here to receive a full speaker itinerary and a list of booths.
Please wear green to show solidarity and bring the following:
- Your lunch (Browne dining opens at 11am and will provide to-go lunch options.)
- A blanket or cushion to sit on (seating is first-come, first-served on the Beckman Mall lawn).
- Water to drink.
- Weather-appropriate attire and sunscreen, hats, or sunglasses as needed.
- Medical-grade masks in case you will be sitting within 6 feet of other people.
All Caltech/JPL community members are welcome and are encouraged to invite their colleagues, friends, and family from the greater Pasadena community to attend and stand in solidarity with us.
Please contact the Socialists of Caltech with any questions.
