Gravitational waves and neutrino emissions from compact binary mergers
Kenta Kiuchi, University of Kyoto,
Compact binary mergers consisting of two neutron stars or a neutron star and a black hole are one of most promising source for ground-based gravitational-wave detectors. Advanced LIGO, KAGRA, and advanced VIRGO will start an observation around 2015 and compact binary mergers will be observed with about 10 events per year. To clarify their dynamics and predict emitted gravitational waves and other signals, it is mandatory to perform a simulation, in which the Einstein equation, the hydrodynamical equation as well as the neutrino transport equation are self-consistently solved. The Kyoto Numerical Relativity group led by Professor Masaru Shibata is now studying this topic. In this seminar, I will introduce our latest results for NS-NS binary and BH-NS binary merger simulation.
