CMA Presents "A VIP Tour of the Palomar Observatory"
The Caltech Management Association (CMA) has arranged a VIP tour of the Palomar Observatory for CMA members and their guests.
The Palomar Observatory, owned and operated by Caltech, is a world-class center of astronomical research. The Observatory is located within the Cleveland National Forest on Palomar Mountain in San Diego County at an elevation of 5,500 feet above sea level.
The seven telescopes at the Palomar Observatory are involved in a wide variety of research programs, ranging from the hunt for near-Earth asteroids to probing distant galaxies and quasars at the farthest reaches of the universe. The telescopes include the famous 200-inch Hale Telescope and the 48-inch Samuel Oschin Telescope. To learn more about the Observatory, go to http://www.astro.caltech.edu/palomar.
