The Caltech Management Association (CMA) has arranged a VIP tour of the Palomar Observatory for CMA members and their guests.

The Palomar Observatory, owned and operated by Caltech, is a world-class center of astronomical research. The Observatory is located within the Cleveland National Forest on Palomar Mountain in San Diego County at an elevation of 5,500 feet above sea level.

The seven telescopes at the Palomar Observatory are involved in a wide variety of research programs, ranging from the hunt for near-Earth asteroids to probing distant galaxies and quasars at the farthest reaches of the universe. The telescopes include the famous 200-inch Hale Telescope and the 48-inch Samuel Oschin Telescope. To learn more about the Observatory, go to http://www.astro.caltech.edu/palomar.

This event is for CMA members and their guests only. Event participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Since we anticipate significant interest in this event, please make your reservation as soon as possible. Members can bring one guest (no child under the age of 6). To participate, you must be a current CMA member and submit your name and your guest's name by FRIDAY, MAY 29; send an e-mail to [email protected]. If you are not a member, go to http://cma.jpl.nasa.gov/membership.html for the membership form and payment procedure.

The drive to Palomar Observatory is approximately 2-3 hours from the Los Angeles area. Participants are responsible for providing their own transportation.
