Prospects and Challenges of Neutral Atom Quantum Simulation
David Weld,
Assistant Professor,
UCSB,
Quantum simulation seeks to use the tools of ultracold atomic physics to gain insight into many-body quantum systems and strongly correlated condensed matter. I will discuss experimental progress towards meeting some of the challenges facing neutral atom quantum simulation experiments, especially the longstanding problems of temperature and readout. I will conclude with a discussion of some directions for future work using ultracold bose-fermi mixtures of lithium and strontium.
