CPET Seminar, "Developing Your Dossier"
We are excited to be hosting a virtual seminar on Wednesday, January 25th at 12pm-1pm Pacific on the topic of Developing Your Dossier, and we would love for you to join us! This event is hosted by the Caltech Project for Effective Teaching (CPET) and is eligible for the CPET Certificate of Interest.
About the speaker: Wendy Benoit, PhD is a Professor (Teaching) in the Department of Chemistry and Associate Dean (Teaching, Learning, and Student Engagement) at the University of Calgary. Dr. Benoit actively contributes to effective teaching resources developed at UCalgary's Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning (e.g., A Guide to Providing Evidence of Teaching) and is a member of working groups tasked with updating UCalgary's student feedback system. She has taught multi-section large-enrolment courses in introductory chemistry, organic chemistry as well as multidisciplinary courses in science writing and approaching scientific problems.
Abstract: Preparing a teaching dossier is a significant, deeply rewarding process. It is also a necessary part of tenure, promotion, teaching award applications, and an opportunity for showcasing growth and development over time in your teaching. This session will present a framework for developing a dossier strongly aligned to your teaching philosophy, while also drawing from experiences and reflections from STEM contexts. Examples are informed by experiences from working with graduate students, early-career and established-career faculty members in science as they developed their dossiers, and the challenges they noticed when documenting evidence of their teaching practice from several perspectives.
RSVP here.
We look forward to seeing you virtually!
