CPET Workshop: Effective Communication for TAs

Have you ever struggled with explaining a concept in office hours to a student who "just couldn't get it"? Have you ever wondered whether your recitations are effective and well-understood?

Communication is central to the teaching process, central to our professional lives as educators, researchers, and mentors, and central to our personal lives as friends and colleagues. This workshop will introduce a model of communication, from which we will draw tools and strategies to best mitigate the pitfalls and misunderstandings that can occur. While this workshop will be framed around the roles that a TA fulfills, the model and tools can be applied to any situation requiring communication!
