Dish and Discuss #8
The Caltech & JPL Community is invited to our workshop series highlighting a variety of topics chosen to encourage cultural intelligence, engage critical discourse and provide an inclusive space for the exploration of diverse identities, thoughts and interests.
Access to knowledge and science is protected by Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits. We will explore the tensions between the right to access and the right to protection. We will consider how Caltech IP policy supports or inhibits access to information/data/culture created at Caltech and discuss which conditions are acceptable for blocking access to our works. Participants will have an opportunity to examine their responsibilities and expectations both as information producers and information consumers.
Presenter: Gail Clement, Head of Reserach Services
