Rigorous Systems Research Group (RSRG) Seminar
The penetration of stochastic renewable energy production in power systems can be facilitated by exploiting the sources of operational flexibility at the interface with other energy systems, such as natural gas and heat. In that context, this talk will discuss the challenges related to the design of market mechanisms for the coordination of energy systems.
Firstly, a bid-validity approach for the coordination of heat and electricity systems will be introduced. This new bid format embeds the techno-economic interdependencies between the energy systems, and yields an electricity-aware heat unit commitment. I will then discuss the issue of information sharing between energy systems, and introduce a privacy-preserving market mechanism for the coordination of natural gas and electricity systems.
