Michael Alvarez, PhD, Flintridge Foundation Professor of Political and Computational Social Science at Caltech and Co-Director, Linde Center for Science, Society, and Policy (LCSSP).

In this episode of Office Hours, we'll talk about "What are the prospects for Ranked Choice Voting?" RCV was on the ballot, and lost, in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and South Dakota. Alaska's electorate also has voted to reject their RCV/Top-4 process. What is RCV? Why did it fail in all of these states? Why did it get repealed in Alaska? What are the future prospects for RCV and primary process reform in the future?

Christian Grose is a Professor of Political Science and Public Policy at the University of Southern California. He is the Academic Director of the USC Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy.

Andrew Sinclair is an Assistant Professor of Government at Claremont McKenna College. He teaches courses in American government and public policy. He's interested in the relationships between voters, elected politicians, and bureaucrats. His work has spanned research into "quango" (non-departmental public bodies) reform in the United Kingdom to primary elections in the United States. He has spent a lot of time recently on the nonpartisan top-two primary in California.
