Founded during the United States' bicentennial and named for the great American poet and philosopher, the Emerson String Quartet has most appropriately been dubbed "America's greatest quartet" by Time magazine. Its insightful artistry and technical mastery have led to six Grammy Awards, including an unprecedented two honors for Best Classical Album. The profound delights of the Quartet's performances led The Times of London to state that "with musicians like this there must be some hope for humanity."

Program:

  • Mozart: Quartet in C Major, K. 465 "Dissonance"
  • Shostakovich: Quartet No. 10 in A-flat Major, Op. 118
