Planet Earth—Caves
Beckman Auditorium
- Public Event
Venture into the underground world of perpetual darkness and the unknown while exploring caves, tunnels and caverns. The shadowy interiors of these natural structures are a breeding ground for bizarre and remarkable wildlife. Some of the many unique creatures include the angelfish, which clings to walls in wet areas with microscopic hooks; the Texas cave salamander, an animal devoid of eyes and pigment; and swiftlets, critters who build their nests out of saliva.
A BBC/Discovery Channel/NHK co-production in association with the CBC.
Erika Hamden, a postdoctoral scholar in Astronomy at Caltech, will introduce the film and guide the post-screening discussion.
