As scientists, we have access to information and methods that much of the general public does not. This access gives us power, which we can use to help improve our world. In this workshop brought to you by Caltech Letters (https://caltechletters.org/) and the Caltech Y's Student Activism Speaker Series, you'll hear from Engineers & Scientists Acting Locally (www.esal.us) about the benefits of scientists engaging with their local governments and communities as well as specific ways to get involved. We'll focus on writing public comments and op-ed pieces. Maybe we'll even see some of your op-ed pieces published through Caltech Letters soon!
This event was made possible with Graduate Student Council (GSC) Event Funding. The presentation of speakers should not be considered an endorsement of the speaker's views by the California Institute of Technology, the Caltech GSC, The Caltech Y or The Caltech Y Social Activism Speaker Series (SASS) Committee. Views expressed are solely those of the speaker.
