Fluid Mechanics Learning from Machines
Petros Koumoutsakos, Professor, Computational Science, ETH Zurich,

The confluence of advances in Computing and Data sciences has created new possibilities for addressing Fluid mechanics problems. This talk will discuss how Machine Learning  algorithms present great promise for advancement in this field.  I will reflect on the links between Machine Learning and Fluid Mechanics and  outline  relevant algorithms for dimensionality reduction, optimization  and reinforcement learning. I will focus on the process of understanding and controlling fluid flows  through Machine Learning and discuss possible future directions in this field.
