David, a shy and hapless waiter, finds an unpublished manuscript in a dresser drawer. It's a romantic tale that moves him deeply. To impress a girl, PhD candidate in literature who often comes to his café with university friends, he decides to show it to her, pretending he's the actual author. She loves it and their relationship blossoms. What he doesn't know is that she sent the manuscript to a publisher who quickly transformed it into a bestseller. Suddenly thrust into the world of celebrity, David struggles with keeping up the ruse, especially when the real author makes his presence known.
