A World in Motion is an entertaining and intriguing look at movement in the worlds of sports, arts, technology, and nature, starring athletes, dancers, musicians, machines, and an array of animals. [A CineMuse Studios Production]

Our screening will be preceded by a live performance by the contemporary improvisational ensemble Continuum, courtesy of the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra, along with members of the Caltech Dance Troupe. Together they will explore human motion, providing a wonderful introduction to the hi-definition film.

Gwyneth Card of Caltech's Bioengeering Department will introduce the film and guide the post-screening discussion.

Continuum, started as an East L.A. rehearsal band in 1987, has evolved into one of the most original voices in contemporary improvisational music today. The group has evolved "organically" over the years, using their considerable skills to build a repertoire rich in influences and directions. No matter what type of music they play, the group has an easily identifiable sound. "Our strength is our diversity" says drummer and spokesperson for the group Christopher Garcia. "You won't find a more different group of people, culturally or musically, playing in a band - and we're proud to say we are a band."

This event is made possible through Caltech's participation in the CineMuse Network.
