Seasonal Seas: from the series Blue Planet - Seas of Life

The most productive seas on Earth, the seasonal seas, border the temperate parts of the world where conditions change throughout the year. This film features forests of giant kelp—the fastest growing plant in the world—home to burgeoning populations of sea otters, brilliantly colored anemones, squid and exquisite leafy sea dragons. Thousands of miles away, another seasonal sea surrounds an island that boasts some of the worst weather on Earth, and the world's largest colony of grey seals. Jillian Dempsey, a Graduate Student in Chemistry at Caltech, will introduce the film and guide the post-screening discussion.
