Presented By: Caltech Committee on Institute Programs

Spirit of Explortion is a documentary of the many "miracle year" events of 2004 at JPL. The landing of the Mars Rovers, Saturn Orbital Insertion of the Cassini spacecraft after a seven-year voyage and the "First Light" of the Spitzer Space Telescope are just a few of the highlights covered in the film. The presentation is truly "through the eyes of the scientists and engineers" who made this happen. A brief sequence about the initial problems with the Spirit rover on Mars is narrated on the film by Ms. Jessica Collison, who is the on-stage host for this event. [A Production of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory]

Jessica Collisson of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory will introduce the film and guide the post-screening discussion.

Recommended for grades 3 through 12.
