Simulation of multiscale dynamical systems

Planetary systems and molecular simulations are example of multiscale ordinary
differential equations with highly oscillatory solutions and they pose severe
challenges for computer simulations. The heterogeneous multiscale method is
a framework for coupling numerical simulations on different scales. We will
discuss this framework and also parareal techniques, which are based on parallel
in time domain decomposition.
