Two recent trends mark the advent of the pervasive computing era: Big data and the Internet-of-Things (IoT). However, data analytics and computing devices today are often designed with security as an afterthought, exposing the emerging pervasive computations to adversarial acts. As computing grows and our machines make the leap from desktops and mobile phones to things, security is not just about bits, but also atoms. In this talk, I discuss some of our ongoing research work at the juncture between the two important aspects of the emerging computing scenarios such as IoTs: the physical and logical security. In particular, I show how we use the physical aspects of logical devices for practically building future generation of secure things, and how we develop novel scalable solutions for secure function evaluation by physical synthesis of logic. By relying on these aspects, our aim is to practicably design and build the next generation of computing systems that are resource-efficient, trustworthy, and secure against breaches/malicious attacks.
