Japanese Tea Ceremony
Dabney Hall, Lounge
Demonstration and Discussion
Chadō, the Japanese way of tea, has fascinated people across cultures for centuries. What is at the root of its practice? How is it relevant in the 21st Century? Please join us for a lively discussion following the demonstration of chanoyu, the intimate exchange between host and guest at the heart of which is to simply make sure the "tea water is hot."
Presentation by Keiko Nakada (Sōkei) and members of Kyoto's Urasenke Tankokai in Los Angeles.
The demonstration is being held in conjunction with the art history class, Traditions of Japanese Art (Art 70).
