Julie Stone Peters is the H. Gordon Garbedian Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, a Global Professorial Fellow at the Queen Mary University School of Law in London, and Co-Chair of the Columbia Theatre and Performance PhD program. She also teaches regularly at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Her most recent book is Law as Performance: Theatricality, Spectatorship, and the Making of Law in Ancient, Medieval, and Early Modern Europe (Oxford UP, 2022). She is currently working on a project on contemporary legal media and performance cultures.
