Memorial Service for David Elliot

A memorial in honor of David Elliot, Caltech professor of history, emeritus, will be held in the main lounge of the Athenaeum. Born in Larkhall, Scotland, Elliot's life spanned several continents. He was the youngest living member of the Indian Civil Service, once known as "the steel framework of India," during the last days of the British empire. Elliot then went to Massachusetts, where he ultimately got his doctoral degree in British history at Harvard University before coming to Caltech.
