Narrative as Leadership: Communicating Science Powerfully with the ABT Framework
Attend the Hixon Writing Center's Science of Writing event featuring narrative trainer, Matthew David.
Communication is an essential part of science, and if you do it well, then the audience will love you, but it's not easy because it involves narrative structure (i.e., the hard part). Therefore, we have developed the ABT Framework, a tool to help you understand narrative structure and how to communicate with the clarity that enables the audience to make sense of the potentially bewildering world of science.
The talk will be followed up with optional workshops called "ABT Build Sessions" where you will work on your own short ABT statement in a small group setting, led by Matthew David.
Workshops
Date | Time | Location: Thursday and Friday, April 20th and 21st in the Hixon Writing Center located on the 3rd floor in the Center for Student Services.
Note: If you plan to participate in one of the workshops, you will be asked to submit a draft of your ABT statement to [email protected] by Friday, April 14th. You will receive follow-up communications by email that provide more details. You will not need to spend more than an hour preparing a draft.
Please indicate in your RSVP if you plan to attend the talk only, the talk and a workshop or, only one of the
2-hr workshops.
