The Generalized Landau Paradigm
John McGreevy,
UC San Diego,
The Landau paradigm is the idea that phases of matter should be understood in terms of symmetry. Recent advances in our understanding of symmetry in quantum many-body systems offer the possibility of a generalized Landau paradigm that encompasses all equilibrium phases of matter.
This talk will be an elementary review of some of these developments, based on:

*This talk will not be shown via Zoom and will not be recorded.*
The colloquium is held in Feynman Lecture Hall, 201 E. Bridge.
Attending in person is open to those with a valid Caltech ID.
