Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Group
- Public Event
Robin and Linda Williams may be best known to many for their association with Garrison Keillor and Prairie Home Companion, but their own touring and recordings are so substantial and satisfying that you really ought not miss the show.
Robin and Linda live in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia and their music has been described as "a robust blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time and acoustic country that combines wryly observant lyrics with a wide-ranging melodicism." Their songs, whether classic standards, obscure gems or original songs, are all outstanding, and the duio is particularly enjoyable and personable in live concerts. Their vocal harmonies and solos prompted Music Row Magazine to write, "It doesn't get any better than these two entwining their pure voices on a glowing, burnished Carter Family jewel."
They are joined in this show by Their Fine Group, which consists of Jim Watson, former member of the Red Clay Ramblers, on bass and vocals; and Peter Brashear, who you may remember from Perfect Strangers in two show at Caltech, on fiddle, mandolin and vocals.
