Summer Research Connection (SRC) Seminar Day

This summer, 14 exceptional high-school students from the local area have teamed up with 5 talented high school, middle school, and elementary school teachers to carry out research in labs at Caltech and the Oak Crest Institute of Science.

On Friday, August 3rd, they will share their findings and present their research at the 5th Annual Summer Research Connection (SRC) Seminar Day. Seminar topics include research into the water quality of our local Arroyo Seco Watershed; 3-D imaging developed for geological field studies; embryonic development and heart defects; genetics and sleep; bacterial studies in a microfluidics lab; solvation chemistry simulations on Mars; and atmospheric photochemistry .

Talks are open to the public and attendees are encouraged to brings guests. We welcome teachers and students from all grades, as well as all members of the Caltech community interested in science and science education outreach. Opportunities for involvement next year are available.

Talks begin at 3:30 p.m. in Noyes 147. Each talk lasts 20 minutes, and guests may stay for any amount of time.

Generous funding for the SRC program has been provided by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Siemens Foundation, and the National Science Foundation.
