Takács String Quartet
- Public Event
2012 was particularly memorable for the Takács String Quartet. It was the only string quartet inducted into Gramophone's new Hall of Fame and the inaugural appointee to the position of Associate Artists at London's Wigmore Hall. Formed in Budapest in 1975, the Quartet continues to be 'borne' in the hearts of music lovers worldwide, hailed for "an almost supernatural unity of musical purpose" (The Guardian) and performances "crackling with electricity...a vivid, illuminating journey" (Boston Globe).
The Sunday Times sums up the acclaimed ensemble's artistry best: "Arguably the greatest string quartet before the public today."
