Takács Quartet
Beckman Auditorium
- Public Event
Returning for its sixth appearance with the Coleman Concerts, the Takács Quartet is known for its virtuosity and seamless, revelatory performances. Founded in 1975 at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, the Quartet now makes its home in Boulder, where it has held a residency at the University of Colorado since 1983. Its recent recording of the complete Beethoven Quartet Cycle won a Grammy Award, two Gramophone Awards, and three Japan Record Academy Chamber Music Awards; the Cleveland Plain Dealer reviewer wrote that "The Takács might play this repertoire better than any quartet of the past or present."

- Shostakovich: Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 122 *
