Four topics on the centers of galaxies
Scott Tremaine,
Professor,
Institute for Advanced Study,
School of Natural Sciences,
I will describe recent research on four disjoint topics, all related to phenomena in the centers of galaxies and active galactic nuclei (AGNs): (1) the dynamics of warped accretion disks; (2) the evolution of the young stellar disk(s) in the Galactic center; (3) a search for evidence of binary black holes in AGNs; (4) relativistic effects in the broad-line regions of AGNs.
