High eccentricity dynamics of few body systems reduce to simple pendulum models
In person: 370 Cahill. To Join via Zoom: 868 5298 8404
ABSTRACT: I will present and discuss new analytical solutions to high eccentricity perturbed Keplerian orbits undergoing Kozai-Lidov oscillations. In particular, I will show that the complex dynamics of hierarchical few body stellar systems - can be reduced to simple pendulum models that predict the long-term evolution of the system. Examples of the solutions include: The octupole term effect, both for a massive and non massive perturber, and a precessing quadrupole potential emerging from higher multiplicity (4 bodies etc.)
