THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT: FIGHTING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Clothesline Project addresses the issue of violence against women by providing a vehicle for women to express their emotions by decorating a shirt to tell their personal stories of abuse. The t-shirts are hung on clotheslines, creating a powerful, visual representation of the prevalence and impact of sexual violence and abuse. The display represents the voices of survivors who refuse to be silenced. The Clothesline Project was started in 1990 by the Cape Cod Women's Agenda. For more information, please visit http://www.clotheslineproject.org/.
Help bear witness to survivors and victims and join us for this event. T-shirt display and decorating will be held outside Chandler Dining in the San Pasqual Walkway, and a presentation by the Rape Treatment Center will follow at 12 noon in the 2nd floor common area of the Center for Student Services. Please RSVP for the talk at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/clothesline.
