The Journey of a River From Mountain to Sea: Planet Earth: Fresh Water
Beckman Auditorium
- Public Event
Presented By: | Caltech Committee on Institute Programs |
Ever wonder how the Grand Canyon was carved so deep, why rivers meander across flood plains, or how sand gets to our beaches? We'll screen portions of the BBC/Discovery Channel documentary Planet Earth: Fresh Water to serve as a springboard for a lively discussion on the role of rivers in shaping the surface of the Earth. On the way, we'll see dramatic mountain rivers, watch roaring waterfalls, explore unique ecosystems that thrive in the floodwaters of the Amazon River, and more.
Joel Scheingross, a graduate student in geological and planetary sciences at Caltech, will introduce the film and guide the post-screening discussion.
Recommended for ages 8 and up.
