The Sexy Ceiling: How the Objectification Culture Harms Women Personally, Professionally, and Politically

This talk by Prof. Caroline Heldman, Associate Professor of Politics at Occidental College, explores the negative effects of female objectification. Ten years of research on the subject finds that widespread female objectification lowers self-confidence, self-esteem, ambition, and political efficacy in ways that limit girls and women personally, in their professional lives, and in the political sphere.
