You have four chances to get involved with other students on campus along with JPL and Caltech community members:

1. In Mate, playwright Lolly Ward traces the life of world champion chess master Bobby Fischer up until his disappearance from professional chess and his relationship with a Hungarian girl who wants to lure him back into the spotlight. Mate is a fully staged world premiere with 13 Characters: 5 women and 8 men. PA 040

2. Tesla, a radio play by Dan Duling on the life of Nikola Tesla, pays tribute to one of the great, complex, under-appreciated and misunderstood minds of the 20th century. The play consists of fifty characters and will be double/triple cast. Six-ten hour time commitment includes rehearsals/performance.

3. Spark is a contemporary US story of faith, love, war, trauma, and a bit of healing. Caltech will join with several hundred other theaters across the United States with simultaneous readings in November. Cast: 3 women (1 late teens, 1 mid 20s, 1 30s), 2 men (1 30s, 1 late 40s). Six-ten hour time commitment includes rehearsals/performance.

4. Improvisation - Improvisation class held every Wednesday night in Ramo Auditorium 7-10. Under the direction of Brian Brophy and guest improv artists, this class includes local trips to Hollywood Improv clubs and a final performance for invited audience. Low pressure high energy fun! PA 040

Auditions are open to all undergrad and graduate students, staff, faculty and Caltech community regardless of previous experience. Also light, sound, scenic and costume designers, including production posts such as board operators and stage manager positions available.

Be prepared for cold reading and scenes with improvised interaction with other actors. Dress simply with loose clothing to move around in. No high heels. For more information, please contact Brian Brophy at [email protected].
